NEWTOWN BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
LUNCHEON MEETING AT GOODNOE FARM DAIRY BAR
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2004
Approval of the Minutes: Mr. Schreiber moved to approve the minutes of the December meeting as presented. Mr. Bishop seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Present: Hal Roberts, Thomas Harwood, Don Harris, Bob Michaud, Sue Britsch, Christopher Messick, Cindy Mullen, Albert Paul, Doug Terry, Dr. William Mlkvy.
Call to Order: In the absence of the Chairman, Mr. Harwood called the meeting to order at 12:01 PM.
Codes Department Business Development Report
Mr. Harwood distributed and reviewed the report for November 2004.
Approval of the Minutes
Mr. Terry moved to approve the minutes of the November meeting as presented. Mr. Michaud seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce
No report. Information about all LBCCC events is available on the website: www.lbccc.org.
Joint Downtown Newtown Corporation
Mr. Terry reported that the video of Newtown has been put on DVD and is available at the JDNC/Main Streets office. Ms. Dunleavy reported that Ms. Ortwein continues to work with various community groups, and that an exclusive Newtown Kindle has been designed by Byers Choice; it is available at various retail shops along State Street.
Newtown Business and Professional Association
No report. Information relevant to all the associationís events can be found at the website: www.newtownbpa.org.
Economic Development Commission
Commission member Mr. Terry reported that they are working on establishing an association in the Business Commons. He said that deed restrictions had extinguished in 2000, and they were reviewing the possibility of reinstating some of the restrictions. Mr. Terry said the four proposals for development of the Acme site would be presented at a public meeting on December 20, 2004.
Mr. Harwood suggested that the Business Development Council write to Andy Warren of PennDOT complimenting the recent construction work on the Bypass.
It was suggested that the current PennDOT Bucks County Maintenance Manager be contacted as a potential speaker for a BDC meeting; Ms. Dunleavy will pursue the matter.
The next scheduled BDC meeting will be Thursday, December 2, 2004.
On motion by Mr. Terry and without objection, the meeting was adjourned at 12:45 p.m.
