Minutes for the Meeting held on November 2, 2006


Present: Robert M. Pellegrino, Michael Solomon, Mary Ann Broderick, Chip Bromley, Lisa Russo, Hal Roberts, Don Harris, Lud Worsham, Riki Brennan.

Call to Order: Mr. Pellegrino called the meeting to order in the absence of the chairman.

Codes Department Business Development Report

Codes Officer Mike Solomon presented the report, covering October 2006.

Approval of the Minutes

Ms. Broderick moved to approve the minutes of the October 5, 2006 meeting as presented. Mr. Roberts seconded; the motion carried unanimously.


Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce

Upcoming events include candidate events, business exchange and Percolator meeting. Information and further detail about all LBCCC events is available on the website:

Joint Downtown Newtown Corporation

Ms. Dunleavy reported that the Brewfest was extremely successful, having sold out completely the day before the event; approximately 1500 people attended with few problems. She said that Girls’ Night Out was continuing to be popular, and that the 2007 AHA! posters would be unveiled on December 1, 2006 at AHA! Friday. The JDNC/Main Streets website is:

Newtown Business and Professional Association

It was noted that the next NBPA breakfast meeting would be Tuesday, November 28 th at 552 Restaurant, and that the holiday party would be held December 13 th. Information about the association and its events is available at the NBPA website:

Economic Development Commission

Mr. Pellegrino said the Board of Supervisors has decided to combine the Economic Development Commission and Business Development Council at the end of the year; the new BDC brochure is on hold.

Newtown Business Commons Association

Mr. Pellegrino said that the association has increased membership since last year, and that a streetscape master plan is being developed to address pedestrian and vehicular movement and elements such as trees and sidewalks. They hope to tie in with the RUSH bus service as well. Mr. Pellegrino reported that the Board of Supervisors will see a first draft of the plan at their work session on November 13 th that was prepared by the township planner; the plan will include street trees, a lighting standard theme, and bus shelters. He noted this is a long range plan. Mr. Pellegrino clarified that owners and tenants in the Business Commons can join the association.

Next Meeting

The next scheduled BDC meeting will be Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Dolce Carini Restaurant.
