Meeting held on October 28, 2013

This meeting lacked a quorum

In attendance: Chairman Autumn Thomas and members Pam Fitzpatrick and Steven Jenks

Holiday Parade: The members in attendance agreed to participate in the Newtown Business Association Holiday Parade on Sunday afternoon, December 8, 2013.

  • Ms. Thomas agreed to purchase a banner to carry in the parade; she would select a banner which could be used when the EAC sets up a table at other community events.
  • Mr. Jenks agreed to contact Parade Chairman Tina Leck and fill out the registration form
  • The recording secretary will notify the members not in attendance and remind them that their family members are welcome to march with them.
  • Ms. Fitzpatrick said that she would contact other nearby EAC’s to ask them to march along with Newtown

Green Corner: The deadline for the Green Corner is November 25, 2013. Mr. Jenks agreed to contact Ms. Escalante to help with some article ideas. The next newsletter would be distributed in mid-January, so articles should deal with winter topics.

Environmental Forums: Ms. Thomas said that she would like to have another Bird Town training in early March. She would contact Audubon Society to plan the event and would try to get information to the Park and Recreation Director to be included in the winter newsletter.

Mr. Jenks said that he would like to host a forum on energy efficiency. He has learned a great deal about solar power and battery generators and has some contacts with vendors. He would begin researching some ideas for a forum in early summer.

Meeting Schedule: The members agreed to leave the meetings on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 PM but to cancel the December meeting, which is the week of Christmas. The members will continue to communicate closer to meeting dates to determine whether a meeting will have a quorum and whether urgent topics are to be discussed.

The recording secretary reminded the members that Ms. Easterly, Mr. Bender and Ms. Escalante must ask to be reappointed, as their terms expire at year’s end. Ms. Easterly is filling the unexpired term of Perry Katz.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.

Respectfully submitted by:

Mary Donaldson, Recording Secretary
