Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the meeting held on August 13, 2002 were approved as submitted.
The Newtown Township Financial Planning Commission met on
Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at 8:30 A. M. in the Meeting Room of the Township
Building.
Members present were Supervisor
Richard weaver; James A. Bowe, III; Allen R. Fidler, III; Elaine M. Gibbs; Robert A. Dieterle; Richard Fusco; Phil
Vance & Phil Newmuis.
Chairman Weaver called the meeting
to order and expressed condolences to member Phil Vance, whose wife passed
since the last meeting.
Approval of Minutes
On motion of member Fidler, seconded by member Fusco and
approved by all present, except members Dieterle & Bowe who had been
absent, minutes of the meeting held on May 14, 2002 were approved.
Summary Review of Department Presentations
In the absence of Manager Pellegrino, Finance Director
Gibbs reported that reviews of reports from each of the Department Heads who
have made presentations to the Financial Planning Commission have been
on-going. Ms. Gibbs stated that the
major financial need in 2003 would be building expansion. Discussion followed.
A general discussion ensued regarding the 2003 Budget
development process. Current millage,
anticipated expenses relating to salary, utility costs, debt service and
present and potential sources of revenue were topics of discussion, which have
been reviewed in past meetings, as well.
Anticipated expenses which might be incurred as the work
continues on the Sycamore Street corridor and the funds promised by PaDOT will
require attention when the work which is planned for 2003 begins at a future
time.
Ms. Gibbs stated that the two student interns who have
been at the Township for the summer season will have completed their time at
the close of the week. They have been
exemplary young women with a strong municipal and financial background and will
be encouraged to return to the Township.
Linton Hill Road
Project
Replacement of the Linton Hill Road culvert is nearing
completion, and when installation of the guard rails is finished and re-surfacing
complete, the road will re-open.
Newtown Industrial
Commons
Comments were made by members about construction sites
within the Newtown Industrial Commons,
noting the pleasant appearances and designs of some new construction.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the
Commission, the meeting was duly adjourned.
