JOINT CABLE TELEVISION ADVISORY BOARD
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 15, 2001
APPROVAL OF MINUTES at the regular meeting of September 19, 2001: Minutes of August 15, 2001: James Bowe moved to approve the minutes of August 15, 2001. The motion was seconded by Mr. Bancroft and passed unanimously.
Members Present: Dr. Joe Ugras, Chairman, James Bowe, Vice Chairman, Walt Iwaskiw, Member, Representing the Newtown Township. Not in attendance is Stuart Myles, Member, Ernie Bancroft, Treasurer, and Mark Craig, Liaison, Representing the Newtown Borough and Scott Harp, Liaison, Representing Newtown Township.
Others Present: Ted Christian, Director of Community & Government Relations at Comcast Cable Communications, Inc.
CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Dr. Joe Ugras
called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: The minutes of June 20,
2001, will be approved at the September 19, 2001, meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
a.
Construction Progress Report – James Bowe spoke about
the construction progress in Tyler Walk.
He advised that progress is going very well. The residents are pleased.
There were a few minor complaints, which are being taken care of.
James Bowe also spoke about Newtown Crossing. He advised that construction will have begun
by September.
Ted Christian advised that Comcast is still waiting
for a response from the Ridings.
Ted Christian advised that Comcast is still looking
into the problem at Lakeview Estates as well as two other communities.
b.
Educational Channel Changes – James Bowe advised that
several members of the Board of Supervisors (BOS) wants to continue to have the
option of viewing the Wrightstown and Upper Makefield committee meetings that
are currently on Channel 58. The BOS is
ok with the committee meetings being moved to a different channel as long as
they are able to view them. James Bowe
suggested that for now the educational channel lineup stays as it is.
c.
Satellite Dish
Ordinances/Regulations – Walt Iwaskiw advised he is still researching. Further discussion at the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
a.
Cable TV Technology Seminar – James Bowe spoke about
learning more about the technology of what goes on behind running the cable
system. He suggested to set-up a
seminar inviting some of the other cable committees in the area. The committee members felt it was a good
idea. Ted Christian advised he would
get some speakers from Comcast. James
Bowe advised he would start work to set-up a seminar.
b. RCN Meeting – Members discussed the
recent meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS/MEMBER
COMMENTS:
Ted Christian advised that by September 1, Channel 78 can be transmitted from
Council Rock High School. Also, Ted
Christian advised that the problem at Waterford Place is being taken care of.
Members
discussed how the research was going on the specifics of what the new scope
will be.
Members
discussed how to get better service from the Cable Company.
Walt
Iwaskiw asked about having the Newtown Township Technology department
demonstrate how the equipment works for the Cable Committee. James Bowe advised he would speak to Ron
Weaver to have something set-up.
ADJOURNMENT: The next meeting is
scheduled for Wednesday, September 19, 2001.
Dr. Joe Ugras made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Walt Iwaskiw. The motion carried unanimously.
