Minutes of September 19, 2001: James Bowe moved to approve the minutes of September 19, 2001.  The motion was seconded by Mr. Bancroft and passed unanimously.

Members Present: James Bowe, Vice Chairman, Walt Iwaskiw, Member, Representing the Newtown Township and Mark Craig, Liaison, Stuart Myles, Treasurer, Representing the Newtown Borough.  Not in attendance are Dr. Joe Ugras, Chairman, Scott Harp, Liaison, Representing the Newtown Township and Ernie Bancroft, Member, Representing the Newtown Borough.

 

CALL TO ORDER: Vice Chairman James Bowe called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m.

 

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: The minutes of June 20, 2001, and August 15, 2001, will be approved at the October 17, 2001, meeting.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

                       

a.      Construction Progress Report – James Bowe spoke about the construction progress in Newtown Crossing.  He advised that construction has started.  He has met with one resident to discuss some concerns the resident had.  Comcast is hoping to have the work completed before we get a heavy freeze.  Cable Line has advised James that the geology of the land is not much better than the land of Tyler Walk.                                                  

 

COMCAST UPDATE:

 

a.      Educational Channel Changes – James Bowe advised that the programming for Council Rock School District has not been moved to Channel 78.  He will speak to Ted Christian about the status of that channel change.

 

b.   Cable TV Technology Seminar – James Bowe advised he needed to speak

with Ted Christian about the seminar, giving him an outline of some topics he would like to see discussed.

 

SATELLITE UPDATE:

 

Walt Iwaskiw advised he is still researching.  He is reviewing documentation from the Township and is waiting to hear something from the Borough.  Once he has more information the committee can discuss further. 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

James Bowe advised there is a meeting at the Bucks County Court House, on Tuesday, September 25, 2001, for all Cable Advisory Board Members and Township Officials.  The meeting is being organized by the Joint Cable/Telecommunications Advisory Board for Bucks County.  The meeting is set to begin at 7:15 PM, in the Public Meeting Room.  There will be a presentation by Comcast giving an overview of their five-year plan for Bucks County. 

 

OTHER BUSINESS/MEMBER COMMENTS:

 

Members discussed the name change and how the research was going on the specifics of what the new scope will be.  Walt Iwaskiw advised he would e-mail committee with what information he had so far for their review and input.  There would be further discussion at the October meeting.

 

Members discussed taking a tour of the new Comcast Cable facility in Ivyland.

 

Members discussed taking a tour of the Newtown Township Technology department for a demonstration on how the equipment works.

 

Members discussed selecting a representative for the Council Rock Cable Board Meeting on October 1, 2001.  The committee decided that Stuart Myles would be the representative.  Walt Iwaskiw advised he would also attend the meeting if he is available.

 

Members discussed the procedure of processing the minutes.  James Bowe advised he would speak to Judy Setar.

 

Members discussed updating the Townships Web Page.  Committee was in agreement to have that updated.  James Bowe will contact Ron Weaver.

 

ADJOURNMENT: The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2001.

Walt Iwaskiw made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by James Bowe.  The motion carried unanimously.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:40.
