JOINT CABLE TELEVISION ADVISORY BOARD

WEDNESDAY JUNE 18, 2003


MINUTES OF JUNE 18, 2003: Walt Iwaskiw moved to approve the minutes of June 18, 2003.  The motion was seconded by Patrick Foster and passed unanimously. 


Members Present: James Bowe, Chairman; Walt Iwaskiw, Vice Chairman; and James Manahan, Member Representing Newtown Township; Rand Jaslow, Liaison, and Patrick Foster, Member Representing Newtown Borough. Not in attendance was Scott Harp, Liaison Representing Newtown Township.

Also present was Joseph Czajkowski representing Comcast Cable Communications, Inc.

CALL TO ORDER:

Chairman James Bowe called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

MINUTES OF MAY 21, 2003:

The minutes of May 21, 2003 will be approved at the August 20, 2003, meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

VOLUNTEER VIDEO GROUP:

OLD BUSINESS:

The committee discussed the possibility of having sponsors for producing different video pieces to be aired on the Township’s Channel 23. Members asked Comcast for advice. Joseph Czajkowski suggested speaking with someone from Radnor Township. James Bowe offered to follow up on this.

The committee members discussed the First 4th Celebration. Rand Jaslow advised he has informed the First 4th Committee members of the Cable Committee’s video-taping some of events. He is working on getting a copy of the Parade line-up. Members discussed what events would be taped.

COMCAST UPDATE:

Joseph Czajkowski advised members that Comcast is starting the design work for running cable equipment in the Newtown Commons. Construction will begin later this year. Members asked to be advised of a construction start date. Joseph Czajkowski advised he would keep the committee advised.

Comcast advised the committee on the new billing system. The new system would delay the June billing. The July billing will be on time.

The committee discussed correspondence received from a Newtown resident who has been having on going problems with his cable service. A copy of the letter was given to Joseph Czajkowski so Comcast can resolve this problem. Comcast will keep the committee advised.

Joseph Czajkowski asked to receive a copy of any correspondence with regards to Comcast the Township receives from residents.

The committee discussed the Emergency Broadcast System. Joseph Czajkowski updated the committee on a meeting between Comcast and the County. He advised that the County would prefer the municipalities use the Community Alert Network (CAN) system. Walt Iwaskiw updated the committee on the Township’s emergency plan and said he would speak further with Don Harris about it.

OTHER BUSINESS/MEMBER COMMENTS:

The members discussed the July 16, 2003, meeting. James Bowe made a motion to cancel the July 16, 2003, meeting, which was seconded by Walt Iwaskiw. The motion carried unanimously.

ADJOURNMENT:

Patrick Foster made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Walt Iwaskiw. The motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:24 p.m.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2003. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., in the Newtown Borough Hall.
