1993 - Fire Marshals office hires two part time employees and establishes a annual fire safety inspection program.
1996 - Fire Marshals office reorganizes and creates Newtown Emergency Services Department (N.E.S.D.). Four full time inspectors are hired. Responding to fire calls becomes job requirement. Inspection program expands to include Borough businesses.
1997 - N.E.S.D. establishes Quick Response Service (QRS) to respond to medical emergencies. All personnel become certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).
1997 - N.E.S.D. wins Governors Award for Excellence in LocalGovernment. Only Fire Department to ever receive such an award.
1998 - N.E.S.D. hires part time inspector to assist with increased work- load and maintain minimum staffing for emergencies.
1999 -N.E.S.D. personnel recognized for saving life of longtime Township resident.
1999 - N.E.S.D. creates fifth full time position. Expanded fire safety education into the Junior High School. N.E.S.D. job responsibility to include local code and ordinance enforcement.
2000 - Request by the Newtown Fire Association for additional coverage. N.E.S.D. increases staffing to eight full time firefighters and increases workday to 12 hours to provide additional coverage.
2000 - N.E.S.D. purchases new vehicle to handle medical emergency calls.
2001- N.E.S.D. awarded $80,000 grant from FEMA to purchase personal protective equipment and fitness equipment.
2003– N.E.S.D along with Middle Bucks Vo-Tec School enter a “Job Shadow” program. This program allows students who are interested in public services to gain unique on the job experiences in the field.
2004 – N.E.S.D receives Gold Level Certification from the State Fire Commissioners office.
