October 2006 - NESD started its Fire Prevention program this year at Goodnoe Elementary School. This year's theme coined by the NFPA is "Watch What You Heat" emphasizing the need to be aware cooking in the Kitchen where most home fire occur. Program lectures depend on grade level. K programs usually introduce smoke detectors and firemen dressing up in gear so children are not afraid. While older students learn about the fire triangle and home escape drills. St. Andrew Elementary, Newtown Elementary and all pre-school and day care schools follow.
